Vilcabamba is a small town in Loja Province that is famous for its longevity and mineral rich water. It has a nearly idyllic year-round climate of about 25°C or 75°F and is about 5000 feet elevation, just above the mosquito zone but not as high as some famous Andean towns.
A Possible Future Clinic
This idea has been gestating since the 1970s. Having seen many clinics and met many patients and doctors, we are sympathetic to the problems patients have in finding a place to heal that nourishes the spirit as well as the body. Our concepts include 100% organic food, most of it grown on the premises and overseen by our good friend Kitzia. We will have a juice bar and special diets for people with varying health needs. There will also be daily evaluation of responses to the therapies offered, constant tweaking of the protocols, and an affordable plan in a nearby clinic for those who wish to have their amalgams replaced with safer dental materials. All treatments will be entirely holistic.
Who Might Consider Visiting
There are three categories of “tourists” who may want to consider a time share. The first would be patients who are seeking natural treatments that include attention to psychological and spiritual issues. The second would be other health care practitioners who want to add to their experience. The third would be people who like to vacation in a place that offers an interesting variety of seminars on permaculture, nutrition, botanical medicine, Ayurveda, medical astrology, and music therapy.
Purchase a time share for at least three weeks, preferably six weeks or longer.
Purchase a home away from home for the winter or summer.
Purchase a time share for at least one week.
To make this more affordable, we are going to offer short-term time shares that expire. These are for three years, again based on double occupancy and all meals included. Keep in mind that these prices do not include any seminar registration fees, health evaluations, counseling, therapy, or treatments. However, they do permit full access to the common facilities.
This is a work in progress so consider that these are just “thinking out loud” conditions. The idea would be to provide excellent, nutritious vegetarian meals for two for extended stays. If unable to use a time share, there would be three options:
- Donate the time share to the Institute.
- Ask the Institute to rent the room to someone and compensate the time share owner for use by another guest.
- Add the time not used to the following year’s allotted time, making it possible to stay longer but less frequently.
