Upcoming Webinar Series

Oral Health

Some experts have suggested that countless chronic and often deadly illnesses are related to oral health and hygiene. This short course offers clear explanations of the types of unhealthy conditions in the mouth, dental procedures and options, oral health practices that reduce risks to health, and ways to detoxify the body of side effects of unhealthy conditions and exposures.

Format: Each lesson includes a PowerPoint presentation of about 45 minutes. This is followed by a question and answer period of an hour or longer, depending on the number of questions. All questions must be on topic. Those that relevant to other parts of the series will be held over.

Materials: There is downloadable material associated with each lesson and a moderated chat room.

Starting Date: Late Summer 2017, 10:30 am PDT

Target Audience:

Anyone interested in health!

The presentation is being offered by Dr. Ingrid Naiman

Cost: The first four presentations are free! Those who have donated to the Institute of Invisible Epidemics or to the crowdfunding of tuition are admitted without cost to the entire series. For others, the early bird enrollment for the second group of webinars is U.S. $32. The deadline is 1 July 2017. Thereafter, the cost is$40. If this amount would pose a hardship, please ask for a concession.

Certificate Students: 150. Must pass 8 small quizzes and submit a short paper showing the ability to utilize the information presented in a practical manner. Then, there will be a short video interview via Skype. The cost includes air mail delivery of certificate issued by the Institute for Invisible Epidemics. Archiving: All webinars will be recorded and archived. If anyone missed the live presentation, the archived recordings will be available within a week after the original presentation. The same fee structure will apply. ORAL HEALTH: HABITS INSTILLED IN US FROM CHILDHOOD This introductory presentation addresses what we were taught as children, such as why we brush and floss, why we have periodic dental check ups that often include x-rays and periodontal probes, why we wear braces, and why fluoride is added to drinking water and dental products. These subjects will be considered in the context of what the actual risks to health are and whether or not we are addressing those risks in a reasonable and rational manner. The safety of each measure will considered along with alternatives that many may want to consider. Live Webinar Date: 27 August 2017, 10:30 am PDT CAVITIES AND GUM DISEASE What really causes tooth decay and what measures actually help to prevent tooth decay. Which dental products are most effective and what oral hygiene practices reduce the risk of decay as well as periodontal problems such as bleeding, infection, and loosening of teeth. The risks associated with infection will be discussed and a case will be made for the systemic nature of oral infections. Live Webinar Date: 3 September 2017, 10:30 am PDT TOXIC MATERIALS USED IN DENTISTRY This lesson covers dental procedures and the materials used in dentistry such as fluoride, x-rays, novacaine (and other anesthetics), amalgam fillings, composite fillings, dental cements, retainers and braces, root canals, extractions, and dentures. Many of these materials are either toxic or they have disruptive effects on normal body processes. For instance, some materials mimic estrogen and interfere with the endocrine system. This presentation will be a little longer than the others and most of the emphasis will be on fluoride and xenoestrogens. Live Webinar Date: 10 September 2017, 10:30 am PDT TOXIC METALS This presentation will focus mainly on mercury with particular emphasis on amalgam fillings. However, since the subject is huge, some references will be made to toxic metals in general as well as to other sources of exposure, the purpose being to empower people to recognize hazards and reduce their exposures and risks. This presentation will also be a little longer since the subject is enormous. Live Webinar Date: 17 September 2017, 10:30 am PDT The next four webinars are devoted to solutions to the issues raised in the introductory material. There is a small fee for enrollment. The fee is however waived for those who have supported the Institute with donations. If contributions have been made to the tuition crowdfunding, there is also no charge. If the amount suggested poses a hardship, please ask for a discount. There are expenses involved in hosting the webinars, web site, archives, and graphics for the slides. In addition, a lot of time goes into research and preparation. Your understanding is appreciated. ORAL CARE PRODUCTS The focus of this webinar will be on common oral health products, their ingredients, and the best substitutes for products that contain undesirable ingredients. Many products are mass produced by companies that are more concerned about microbial growths in their products than in the users of the products. Some of the anti-fungal and antibacterial ingredients are dangerous. Sometimes, the additives are used strictly for aesthetic reasons, but they have no health benefits. Here, we will cover everything from toothbrushes and toothpaste to oral rinses, dental floss, waterpicks, tooth whiteners, and various products and approaches for remineralization of the teeth and tightening of the gums. The question of whether or not to remove tonsils and adenoids will also be addressed as well as natural methods for aligning teeth and improving the bite. Live Webinar Date: 24 September 2017, 10:30 am PDT ORAL INFECTIONS: PREVENTION AND TREATMENT This webinar will take up the subject of natural versus pathogenic microorganisms commonly found in the mouth. In the second webinar, some risks were described, but there are very serious risks that be avoided through careful hygiene and adjunctive support for infections that have already migrated. The way the immune system works and how different treatments affect the immune system will be covered along with how solving one major problem might actually resolve conditions that were believed to be unrelated. Live Webinar Date: 20 August 2017, 10:30 am PDT TOXINS IN DENTAL PRODUCTS There are two objectives in this webinar. The first is to cover fluoride and its deadly effects on health and consciousness. Removing fluoride and reversing fluorosis are very slow processes, but they can have incredible long-term benefits. The second part of this webinar will address xenoestrogens, potent chemicals found in many dental products such as composite fillings and dental cements (bonding agents). These chemicals are endocrine disruptors and can have effects that mimic estrogen. The ramifications are extraordinary and often ruinous. Safe alternatives will be described to the extent that such alternatives exist. Live Webinar Date: 8 October 2017, 10:30 am PDT HEAVY METAL DETOXIFICATION When it comes to oral toxicity, what is often center stage in people’s minds is mercury, but this is not usually the place to start when trying to improve oral health. Removing and replacing amalgam fillings is an expensive and often challenging undertaking. It can be made easier by careful preparation. Since there are steps involved in removing the metals, these will be outlined, but they obviously involve reducing the exposure so as to lessen risks. There are beneficial life style changes to consider and alternatives to amalgams that need to be understood so as to avoid leaping from the proverbial frying pan into the fire. The breaking of covalent bonds and mobilization of metals is another step that needs to be approached wisely. For instance, mercury that was once free flowing in the blood may be bonded with cells in the brain. Those bonds have to be broken in order to remove the mercury, and once mobilized, the mercury has to be eliminated, not just circulated and reabsorbed. Planning and preparing carefully are essential to a happy outcome. Once committed to resolving mercury-related problems, many seek the advice of chelation specialists or mercury-free dentists. This webinar will help people to understand their options as well as how to interpret the plethora of advice offered by people who may not understand the bigger picture. Live Webinar Date: 15 October 2017, 10:30 am PDT Mold Remediation & Treatment Mold is almost ubiquitous. It constitutes part of the process of breaking down diseased and dead matter, i.e., returning dust to dust. It is opportunistic in that it thrives on moisture as well as darkness. This webinar series will be divided into two main parts. The first part deals with remediation. The sources of mold, the ways to check for mold, and the correct methods for clearing mold from our working and living environments will be discussed. The emphasis will be on detection, followed by safe removal of the risks to real property, possessions, and health. The second part of the series will address health and the ways to recover after exposure to mold. Mold Remediation & Treatment 1

MOLD DETECTION AND REMEDIATION

Within hours of exposure to water, mold can appear. Besides the risk mold poses to health, it can cause serious property damage. Any property or possessions that have been exposed to moisture may become colonized by mold. This means that when there is heavy rain, melting snow, leaking pipes, clogged pipes, poor drainage, damp crawl spaces, attics, or basements, mold will probably be present.  Likewise, it can be found in air conditioners, air filtration devices, humifiers and dehumifiers, certain kinds of medical equipment, potted plants, greenhouses, refrigerators, washing machines, automobiles, hotels, restaurants, libraries, concert halls . . . in short, just about anywhere. At best, mold will cause deterioration and loss of value to real property and belongings.  At worst, it will eventually claim the lives of pets, loved ones, and oneself. The purpose of this webinar is to raise awareness and define the correct procedures for removing mold.

SYMPTOMS OF MOLD INFECTION: ALLERGIES & IMMUNITY

Very few doctors have been trained to look for mold and even fewer know how to treat pets and people who have been exposed to mold. Textbooks tend to suggest the mold can cause allergic reactions in particularly sensitive or immuno-compromised individuals.  This perspective is a disservice to at risk patients and medicine.  Only about 25% of individuals exhibit clear signs of allergic reactions to mold, but this does not mean that it is safe for the other 75% of the population to be exposed to mold.

In this webinar, the risks of mold exposure and early symptoms will be discussed along with actions one can take to stabilize enough to take the necessary protective measures.

Mold Remediation & Treatment 3

MOLD COLONIZATION

Once mold has entered the body, whether through inhalation or ingestion, it tends to colonize via a series of hyphal structures. There are technical terms for these processes, but mold is a living entity with a propensity to grow and colonize. Inside the body, the hyphae constitute part of the feeding system and these can basically draw their nutrition from anywhere in the body: the blood, lungs, brain, reproductive system. . . anywhere!

Through microscopic analysis, the mechanisms for disrupting the feeding system and curtailing the invasion have been developed.  If an individual has been exposed to mold, remediating or moving will not solve the problem because the mold is already inside the body. The mold colonies have to be disabled by disrupting the feeding system that sustains mold growth. In contrast to property, the moisture in the body cannot be eliminated so the approach has to rely on chemicals found in Nature that inhibit mold growth.

COGNITION

Many people who have been exposed to mold have cognitive issues. They may be disoriented or suffer from memory loss. Some lose the ability to enunciate certain sounds or they slur. Regaining full control over neurological functions is a critical part of the recovery process. Strategies and herbs for neuroregeneration will be covered in this webinar.

Live Webinar Date: 22 October 2017, 10:30 am PDT

The next four webinars are devoted to solutions to the issues raised in the introductory material. There is a small fee for enrollment. The fee is however waived for those who have supported the Institute with donations.  If contributions have been made to the tuition crowdfunding, there is also no charge.  If the amount suggested poses a hardship, please ask for a discount. Mold Remediation & Treatment 5

MYCOTOXINS AND REGENERATION

As a living organism, mold has biological and metabolic functions, some of which are highly toxic. Unlike allergies that go away when the exposure is eliminated, mycotoxins tend to be cumulative, meaning as more mycotoxins enter the system, more burden is placed on the body. Many of the mycotoxins are carcinogenic so the effects of exposure are delayed until a real crisis is discovered 10, 15, or 20 years down the road.  To avert such consequences, detoxification needs to occur. The measures for removing mycotoxins through diet and herbs will be covered in this webinar.

BONUS WEBINAR: LIFE STYLE & DIETARY ADJUSTMENTS

Anyone who has been through a major encounter with mold knows that it can ruin or destroy life. Therefore some preventative measures can be considered by those who want to be safe rather than sorry. In this webinar, the issues will be seriously considered. While some people simply want to lose the weight they gained while exposed to mold, others recognize that the weight is a symptom, not the root of the problem. There are changes in life style and diet that support reduction of risks and the regaining of true health. These practices will be addressed in this bonus webinar.

While the information is based on Ayurvedic models of taste and types, it is original, practical, and free of cultural biases.

Launch Date: Spring 2018

Cost: $350 for pre-enrollment, deadline March 1, 2017. Thereafter,$400. Donors to the Institute of Invisible Epidemics or to the crowdfunding of tuition are admitted without tuition.

Certificate Students: $550. Must pass all tests and submit one paper showing the ability to utilize the information in a practical manner; includes air mail delivery of certificate. The course is taught by Dr. Ingrid Naiman Lesson 1 Taste as the Clue to Pharmacology Lesson 2 The Sweet Taste Lesson 3 The Sour Taste Lesson 4 The Salty Taste Lesson 5 The Pungent Taste Lesson 6 The Bitter Taste Lesson 7 The Astringent Taste Lesson 8 Summary Mid-Life Tune Up Program The Mid-Life Tune Up Program was developed by Dr. Ingrid Naiman in 1985 in response to two situations that took center stage at that time. First, she observed the precariousness of aging in our modern society, and second, she realized that deferred maintenance and failure to give the body the same attention that we give our homes and cars was resulting in diminished capacity that, in turn, affect the quality of life. For individuals, there are two ways to approach the Tune Up. They can start with the weakest system of the body, the one posing the most risk or presenting with the most symptoms, or they can start from the first chakra and work their way up to the top. For the course, we are forced to take the latter approach since the material will be generalized, not specific to the individual participants. This course consists of eighteen lessons offered over a period of four years. For each chakra, there is one lesson on detoxification that addresses the obstacles to proper functioning, and one lesson on tonification and regeneration. For the first three chakras, the physiological and psychological symptoms are addressed separately, the reason being that more diseases are related to the lower chakras than to the higher ones. The course will start in March 2018 with one lesson on detoxification of the first chakra, followed in June by psychological components of the chakra, and in October by the efforts to perfect the chakra. A similar staggering of information will be applied to the second and third chakras. Each lesson consists of a downloadable pdf booklet containing explanations, recipes, and life style considerations. One week after the pdf is made available, there will be a PowerPoint and/or video presentation, and a week later, there will be a live webinar. There is a moderated student forum and opportunity to submit questions prior to each webinar. The webinars will be archived. There are no required quizzes or exams. However, those who would like a certificate can take the optional tests at the end of each lesson as well as the end of the course. Audience: This course is taught in user-friendly language that is aimed at intelligent individuals who want to understand the concepts and apply them to themselves and family members. Benefits: Nearly everyone has one or more hypofunctioning chakras as well as a hyperfunctioning chakra. It is hoped that by deeper understanding of each chakra and its relationship to health that people will be able to avoid crises and live symptom-free and productive lives without fear of loss of capacity as we age. Launch Date: March 2018 Cost:$30 per lesson or $75 per year for pre-enrollment, deadline January 1, 2018. Thereafter, the enrollment will be limited to batches,$100 annually for the first three years. Donors to the Institute of Invisible Epidemics or to the crowdfunding of tuition are entitled to discounts. Please inquire to see the details.

Certificate Students: $200 per year. Must pass all tests and submit one paper per year with a case study exhibiting the ability to utilize the information in a practical manner. The certificate will be issued at the end. The cost for the parchment is$45 and includes air mail delivery of certificate.
